My mom gave me this recipe. It is different from most of the cream tuna on toast recipes I have seen because it has lots of cheese. Ingredients:
2 (6 ounce) cans tuna |
2 tablespoons real butter |
1/4 cup flour |
2 1/2 cups milk |
1 cup shredded cheese |
1/4 teaspoon celery salt |
1/4 teaspoon onion powder |
8 slices bread |
1/2 cup peas |
Directions:
1. In a medium saucepan melt butter, stir in flour and spices until mixture is thick creamy paste. Slowly stir in milk being careful to constantly stir to prevent lumping. Add cheese. Add tuna after cheese has melted into mixture. Simmer over low heat for ten minutes. 2. Toast bread, then pour over layer of creamed tuna - Enjoy. |
