Sugar topped, light, flakey scones remind me of Cream Teas in England. Serve with a bowls of whipped cream (or clotted cream if you have it) and raspberry jam. Add a big pot of tea, your best friend settle in for a yummy long chat. Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups flour |
3 1/2 tsp baking powder |
3 tbsp. white sugar |
1/2 tsp salt |
5 tbsp butter |
2 eggs - lightly beaten |
1/2 cup heavy cream |
large granule sugar |
Directions:
1. Sift together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt 2. Add Butter and mix with pastry cutter (or your hands) until mixture is finely crumbled 3. Pour eggs and cream into centre and knead 4. Cut with biscuit cutter or a glass 5. Sprinkle tops with large granule sugar 6. Bake for 15 minutes at 400F |
