These are the cookies Grandma Weed made for me every time she came to visit. These go under the Beat & Eat frosting! Ingredients:
2/3 cup shortening |
3/4 cup sugar |
1 tsp vanilla |
1 lg egg |
4 tsp cream or half & half |
2 cups sifted flour |
1 1/2 tsp baking powder |
1/4 tsp salt |
Directions:
1. Thoroughly cream shortening, sugar, vanilla. 2. Add egg; beat til light and fluffy. 3. Stir in cream. 4. Sift together dry ingredients; blend in creamed mixture. 5. Divide dough in half. Chill 1 hour 6. On lightly floured surface roll to 1/8 inch. 7. Cut in desired shapes with cutters. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 375 about 6 to 8 minutes. Cool slightly remove from pan. 8. Cool on rack. Decorate. 9. ~~~~ 10. To make these drop cookies, omit 1/2 cup flour. (Add 1 cup raisins or 1/2 cup broken nuts and 1/2 cup citron if you like) Drop from spoon onto cookie sheet. Bake at 375 for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 4 dozen. |
