From the 1961 Lutheran Favorites of St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake, Minnesota. Submitted by Mrs. Ernest Krohn. Ingredients:
1 cup butter, creamed |
3/4 cup brown sugar |
1 egg yolk |
2 1/4 cups flour |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
2 tablespoons butter |
1 1/4 cups powdered sugar |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla |
4 -5 teaspoons cream |
Directions:
1. Add to creamed butter the brown sugar, and cream well. 2. Blend in egg yolk. 3. Add flour and vanilla. 4. Chill. 5. Shape into balls the size of a marble. 6. Flatten to 1/8 inch thickness. 7. Bake at 325 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until browned very lightly. 8. Place cookies together with frosting, sandwich style. 9. For frosting, brown butter slightly. 10. Remove from heat and blend in powdered sugar. 11. Add vanilla and cream. 12. Cream well. |
