This is one of the Zaar recipes that I adopted. I hope to make this soon as it looks like a dish my family would enjoy. I’ll edit the recipe accordingly if needed. Ingredients:
4 ounces sweet baking chocolate |
3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons margarine |
2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine, softened |
3 ounces cream cheese, softened |
3 ounces cream cheese, softened |
1 egg |
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract |
2 eggs |
3/4 cup sugar |
1/2 cup all-purpose flour |
1/2 teaspoon baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1/4 teaspoon almond extract |
1/2 cup pecans or 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped |
Directions:
1. Combine chocolate and 3 tablespoons butter in top of double boiler; bring water to a boil. 2. Reduce heat to low; cook until chocolate melts. 3. Set aside to cool. 4. Combine 2 tablespoons butter and cream cheese, creaming until light and fluffy. 5. Stir in 1 egg, 1 tablespoon flour, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. 6. Set aside. 7. Beat 2 eggs at medium speed of an electric mixer until thick and lemon colored. 8. Gradually add 3/4 cup sugar, beating well. 9. Combine 1/2 cup flour, baking powder, and salt; add to egg mixture, mixing well. 10. Stir in cooled chocolate, flavorings, and pecans. 11. Pour half of chocolate batter into a greased 8 inch square pan. 12. Spread with cheese mixture; top with remaining chocolate batter. 13. Cut through mixture in pan with a knife to create a marbled effect. 14. Bake at 350F for 35 to 40 minutes. 15. Cool on wire rack; cut into squares. |
