My favorite cutout cookie recipe, by far. Ingredients:
1 cup butter, softened |
8 oz cream cheese, softened |
1 1/2 cups sugar |
1 egg |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1/2 teaspoon almond extract |
3 1/2 cups flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
Directions:
1. In a large bowl beat butter and cream cheese until well combined. Add sugar, beat til fluffy. Add egg and extracts, beat well. In a small bowl combine flour and baking powder. Add to cream cheese mixture. Mix well. Divide dough in half, wrap each portion in plastic wrap. Chill about 1 1/2 hours. 2. Preheat oven to 375. Roll out dough, half at a time to 1/8 thickness on lightly floured surface. Cut out with your favorite cookie cutters. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. 3. Bake 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool on wire racks. 4. Frost with your favorite frosting. |
