Just like Mom used to make, but without the super-high fat and calorie counts. And we don't call 'em crazy delicious for nothin'...
Ingredients:
1 package refrigerated pillsbury crescent recipe creations seamless dough sheet
6 small baking apples (preferably fuji), peeled and cored
2 tbsp. sweetened dried cranberries
1/2 tbsp. brown sugar (not packed)
1/2 tbsp. light whipped butter or light buttery spread
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray a 9 X 13 baking pan with nonstick spray.
2. Lay dough sheet on a dry surface with the shorter sides on the left and right. Horizontally cut into 2 even strips. Vertically cut each strip into 3 even pieces. Slightly stretch or roll out each piece into larger squares.
3. Place an apple in the center of each dough square. Evenly distribute cranberries among the openings of the apples, 1 tsp. each. Evenly distribute brown sugar and butter among the openings, about 1/4 tsp. of each per apple. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg.
4. One dough square at a time, gently bring all four corners up around the apple to overlap at the top and pinch edges to seal, enclosing the apple. Place in the baking pan, evenly spaced.
5. Cover the pan with enough foil to secure at the sides without resting on top of the apples. Bake for 45 - 50 minutes, until dough is browned and apples are tender. Dive in!
