I love oatmeal and this is one of my favorites. I also like to use raisins, apricots and apples in place of the cranberries. Ingredients:
1 cup steel-cut oats(these oats make a creamy and delicious oatmeal) |
1/3 cup sweetened dried cranberrties |
1/4 tsp. salt |
1/4 tsp cinnamon |
2 cups water |
4 tsp chopped walnuts( i toast mine to bring out their flavor) |
4 tsp firmly packed brown sugar |
Directions:
1. In a saucepan combine oats, cranberries, salt ,cinnamon and water. 2. Bring to a boil over high heat, reduce the heat to low and simmer, uncovered until the oats are tender , about 20 min. 3. Spoon the oatmeal into bowls and sprinkle each with walnuts and brown sugar. 4. Serve right away! |
