This bread has a wonderful orange taste. It's great for the holiday season. From Old Fashioned Bread Recipes with Historical Notes. Ingredients:
3 tablespoons butter, softened |
1 cup sugar |
1 egg, beaten |
3/4 cup orange juice |
3 tablespoons orange rind, grated |
2 cups all-purpose flour |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 1/2 cups fresh cranberries, chopped |
1/2 cup nuts, chopped |
Directions:
1. Cream together butter and sugar in a medium bowl. 2. Blend in egg and orange juice. Beat the mixture thoroughly. 3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt, soda, and baking powder. 4. Add flour mixture to liquid mixture, stirring to moisten. Do not beat. 5. Fold in cranberries and nuts. 6. Pour batter into a greased 9 x 5-inch loaf pan. 7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees F for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the center. |
