Great for Thanksgiving. if you don;t know what a conserve is, it is similar to a jam consistency, but has nuts. Serve them over toast, biscuits, breads, etc. Ingredients:
4 cups fresh cranberries |
3/4 cup water |
3 cups sugar |
3/4 cup water |
1 medium orange, peeled and finely chopped |
1/2 cup chopped pecans or 1/2 cup walnuts |
1/3 cup raisins |
Directions:
1. Combine cranberries and 3/4 cup water in a Dutch oven;bring to a boil. Cover. Reduce heat and simmer 6 to 8 minutes or until skind pop.Drain fruit, and put through a food mill. Add remaining ingredients, bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered 30 minutes. 2. Quickly spoon hot conserve into hot jars, leaving 1/4 inch headspace, wipe jar rims. Cover jars at once with metal lids and screw on bands.Process in boiling water bath 15 minutes. |
