Cranberry Cake With Butter Sauce |

A nice addition to your holiday dessert table. Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
1 cup sugar |
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder |
3 tablespoons shortening, melted |
2/3 cup milk |
1 egg |
2 cups fresh cranberries |
1/2 cup butter |
1 cup sugar |
3/4 cup evaporated milk |
Directions:
1. Cake: Sift dry ingredients into bowl. 2. Add shortening, milk, and eggs. 3. Beat 2 minutes. 4. Stir in cranberries. 5. Bake in buttered 9 inch square pan at 350ยบ for 40 minutes. 6. Serve with hot butter sauce. 7. Hot butter sauce: Melt butter in double boiler. 8. Add sugar and milk; mix well. 9. Cook over hot water 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. 10. Serve hot over cake. |
