CRANBERRY BUTTON COOKIES This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Johnson Estate in Rockwall, Texas in 1991. Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
1-1/2 cups brown sugar packed |
1-1/2 cups fresh ground cranberries |
1 cup vegetable shortening |
3 cups quick cooking oats |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg |
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
Directions:
1. In large mixing bowl combine flour, baking soda, ginger, nutmeg, salt and oats. 2. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender or table knives until particles are very fine. 3. Add cranberries and brown sugar then mix until well blended then cover and chill 1 hour. 4. Roll out dough to 1/4 thickness and cut into 3 rounds. 5. Bake on greased cookie sheets at 375 for 15 minutes then cool. |
