I though it would be an appropriate appetizer for Thanksgiving. Although, it is so delicious that it can be used at any time of the year. Ingredients:
14 oz can ocean spray whole cranberry sauce |
1/4 cup sugar |
1/4 cup red wine vinegar |
1/2 red onion, thinly sliced into rings |
2 garlic cloves, minced |
2 tbsp minced fresh basil |
1 tsp oregano |
8 oz loaf of french bread |
olive oil |
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients, except bread and oil, in a medium saucepan. 2. Cook on medium heat, stirring occasionally, until onion is soft and sauce has thickened, about 30 minutes. 3. Cool to room temperature. 4. Cut bread diagonally into 3/4-inch slices; brush both sides with oil. 5. Broil each side of bread for 1 to 2 minutes or until golden brown. 6. Top each slice with cranberry mixture. |
