This relish is packed with antioxidants that fight heart disease and soluble fiber that lowers cholesterol. Ingredients:
5 cups chopped peeled apple |
2 cups fresh cranberries |
2 cups water |
3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar |
1/2 cup white wine vinegar |
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves |
1 (3-inch) cinnamon stick |
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in a large heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally; continue to cook until thick (about 30 minutes), stirring frequently. 2. Discard cinnamon. Mash with a potato masher. Cover and chill. 3. Yield: 18 servings (serving size: 1/4 cup). |
