This is a Deep Southern Tradition! Ingredients:
1 1/2 c. cracklins soaked overnight in buttermilk. just enough to cover the cracklins |
1 1/2 c. cornmeal |
3 tbsp flour |
1 tsp salt |
1 tsp soda |
2 c. buttermilk |
1 egg, beaten |
Directions:
1. Soak the cracklins overnight in buttermilk, I usually just cover the cracklins with the buttermilk, they will swell and be soft. 2. Mix all the ingredients together and cook 3. Bake at 450 for 25 min or until brown. |
