A delicious Fondue!! I found this in a regional magazine - Saltscapes - Love It!!!! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did - Ingredients:
4 slices bacon, finely chopped |
1 cup spanish onion, minced |
1 tablespoon butter |
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour |
1 cup cracked canoe lager beer |
1 cup havarti cheese, grated |
1 cup gouda cheese, grated |
Directions:
1. Place a medium saucepot over medium heat and add the chopped bacon. 2. Render the fat from the bacon, crisping it gently. 3. Add onions to sauté and the butter to melt and brown slightly. 4. Now add the flour and stir to combine and make a smooth roux. 5. Add the beer a little at a time, whisking to ensure that no lumps form. 6. Add the grated cheese until melted, transfer to a fondue pot and serve with crusty bread and sweet and sour gherkins - so delicious! |
