Always a big hit. A unique, molded crameat spread. From a local news program. I usually chill about 3 hours. Ingredients:
1 envelope unflavored gelatin |
3/4 cup cold water |
1/2 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing |
2 tablespoons minced fresh chives or freeze-dried chives |
2 tablespoons minced fresh dillweed or 2 teaspoons dried dillweed |
1 tablespoon grated onion |
1 tablespoon lemon juice |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon paprika |
dash of hot sauce |
1 pound fresh crabmeat, drained and flaked |
1 cup whipping cream, whipped |
Directions:
1. Sprinkle gelatin over cold water in a small saucepan; let stand 1 minute. 2. Cook over low heat, stirring until gelatin dissolves, about 2 minutes. Let cool. 3. Stir in mayonnaise and next 7 ingredients. 4. Chill until the consistency of unbeaten egg white. 5. Spoon gelatin mixture into a large bowl; fold in crabmeat and whipped cream. 6. Spoon into a lightly oiled 6-cup mold. 7. Cover and chill until firm. 8. Unmold and serve with assorted crackers. |
