I am not a big fan of deep-fried foods, but I replicated this recipe after having it as an appetizer in Ocean City Maryland. Not exact, but pretty close. Ingredients:
1 pound of crabmeat |
1 egg |
3 tablespoons of self-rising flour |
1 tablespoon of prepared mustard |
2 tablespoons of mayonnaise (yes, the full-fat stuff which i hate to admit using) |
1 tablespoon of old bay seasoning |
3 drops, or so (wink, wink) of frank's hot sauce |
Directions:
1. Put crabmeat in a bowl and sort through it to make sure there are no shells. Remove any shells. (I can never afford fresh, so I am left with the canned :( to deal with) 2. Add egg, flour, mustard, mayonnaise, Old Bay and Frank's Hot sauce. 3. Mix until throughly blended. 4. Form into balls. 5. Deep fry until golden brown and serve with your choice of sauce. 6. You should get about 30 crab balls from this recipe. |
