This is a first-attempt version of an appetizer I made years ago. I have modified it over the years, but never actually wrote down quantities of my modifications! So, start with this and let your mind go wild :D Ingredients:
1 package prepared pie crust mix |
6 ounces crab meat, picked through for shells |
6 ounces shrimp, well-drained, deveined and chopped |
1/2 cup sour cream |
3 tablespoons chopped chives |
3 hard boiled eggs, chopped fine |
1 egg yolk |
seasonings to taste |
Directions:
1. Prepare pie crust mix according to package directions. 2. Roll crust out to 9x13 inches. 3. In a bowl, mix crab, shrimp, sour cream, chives and hard boiled eggs. 4. Season to taste with salt and pepper and/or Old Bay® Seasoning. 5. Spread crab mixture onto pastry and roll-up like a jelly roll. 6. Place, seam side down, on a buttered cookie sheet. 7. Brush outside with a beaten egg yolk. 8. Bake at 425° for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. 9. Cut equally down roll for individual servings. |
