Quick and easy recipe. Great flavor. Comes from United Methodist Cookbook, Gowrie, Iowa. Submitted by Sharon Jones. Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups flour |
2 cups brown sugar |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
2/3 cup shortening |
1 cup milk |
2 eggs |
2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg |
Directions:
1. Mix flour, sugar, salt and shortening until crumbly. 2. Reserve l/2 cup. 3. To remaining crumbs add baking powder, soda, and spices. 4. Mix well. 5. Add milk and eggs. 6. Mix well. 7. Pour into a 9 x 13 greased and floured pan. 8. Top with reserved crumbs. 9. Bake at 375 for 25 to 30 minutes. |
