This soft,lightly sweet bread makes great sandwiches. It also goes well with soups and stews. Ingredients:
2 packages active dry yeast(1/4 oz each) |
2 cups warm water |
1/2 cup sugar |
1 tablespoon salt |
2 eggs-beaten |
1/4 cup vegetable oil |
6 1/2-7 cups all purpose flour |
Directions:
1. In a large mixing bowl,dissolve yeast in water. 2. Add sugar,salt,eggs,oil,and 3 cups flour. Beat until smooth 3. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. 4. Turn out onto a floured surface. Knead until smooth and elastic(6-8 minutes). 5. Place in a greased bowl,turning to coat. 6. Cover and let rise about 1 hour or until doubled in size. 7. Punch dough down. Divide in half and shape into loaves. 8. Place dough in two greased 9 x5 x3 loaf pans. 9. Cover and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size. 10. Bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. 11. Remove from pans and cool on wire racks. |
