Ingredients:
3 pounds boneless round steak, 1 1/2- to 1 3/4-inches thick |
1/2 cup all-purpose flour |
2 tablespoons shortening |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon pepper |
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce |
1 cup chopped celery |
1/2 cup chopped onions |
2 cups beef broth |
1/2 cup catsup |
6 whole cloves |
Directions:
1. Trim excess fat from steak; sprinkle flour evenly on both sides of steak, and pound with a meat mallet. 2. Melt shortening in a large Dutch oven; brown steak on both sides. Combine remaining ingredients, stirring well; pour over steak. Cover and bake at 350° for 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until tender, adding more water, if necessary. |
