Use Virginia-baked ham. For those of us who love a sweet, fruity sauce with ham. Ingredients:
1 (4 lb) bone-in ham |
10 whole cloves |
1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple, undrained |
1 tablespoon cornstarch |
1 (18 ounce) jar apricot-pineapple preserves |
1/4 cup dried sour cherries |
1/4 cup golden raisins or 1/4 cup currants |
Directions:
1. Stud the ham with the cloves, then place in slow cooker. 2. Drain pineapple juice from the crushed pineapple into a bowl and add the cornstarch. 3. Stir until thoroughly blended; then add in the pineapple and preserves; mix well. 4. Pour and spoon over the ham. 5. Cover and cook on LOW for 5-7 hours. 6. Sprinkle on the cherries and raisins; continue to cook 1 hour, until the meat is very tender. 7. Remove ham from the sauce and let cool for about 15 minutes on a cutting board. 8. Cut into slices and arrange on plates or a serving platter. 9. Generously spoon the sauce over the meat and serve at once. |
