What an incredible cornbread this one is. Great with soups, chowders and stews. I love this recipe. Ingredients:
2 cup white corn meal |
1 teaspoon salt |
1-1/2 cups cold water |
4 tablespoons vegetable oil |
Directions:
1. Mix corn meal, salt and water. 2. Preheat oven to 475 and heat oil in a round iron skillet in the hot oven. 3. Carefully spread mixture evenly in skillet. 4. Spoon some of the fat that comes to the edges up on top of the batter. 5. Bake for 12 minutes then broil for 3 minutes to get crispy around the edges. 6. Cut into pie shape slices and serve. |
