These patties are good and quick. My family enjoyed these. The bacon gives a little smokey flavor, with the addition of the tomato gravy for a little zing. Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef |
2 slices uncooked bacon, strips diced |
1 teaspoon diced onion |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/8 teaspoon pepper |
2 tablespoons chopped green peppers |
1 tablespoon chopped onion |
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained |
1 -2 bay leaf |
1 teaspoon sugar |
1/2 teaspoon celery salt |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
1/8 teaspoon pepper |
1/2 cup water |
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour |
Directions:
1. In a bowl, combine beef, bacon, onion, salt and pepper. 2. Shape into four oval patties; brown in a skillet over medium heat. Remove patties and keep warm. 3. Drain all but 1 tbl drippings; saute green pepper and onion in drippings until tender. 4. Add tomatoes, bay leaves, sugar, celery salt, salt and pepper. 5. Combine water and flour until smooth; add to tomato mixture, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes. Return patties to gravy. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Uncover and simmer 10 minutes longer. Remove the bay leaves. |
