This is from The Great American Favorite Brand Names Cookbook. When I try it, I'll come back and let you know some more about it. If anyone else tries it, please do the same. Ingredients:
1 (16 ounce) can lima beans |
6 slices bacon, diced |
1/2 cup sliced onion |
1/2 cup diced celery |
1 garlic clove, minced |
1 cup ketchup |
1 (16 ounce) can red kidney beans, drained |
1/2 teaspoon tabasco sauce |
Directions:
1. Drain lima beans; reserve 1/2 c liquid. In large skillet cook bacon until browned. Drain all but 1 tablespoons bacon fat from skillet. Add onion, celery and garlic; cook 5 minutes or until tender. 2. Stir in ketchup, lima beans, reserved lima bean liquid and kidney beans; mix gently. Simmer uncovered 20 minutes; stir occasionally. Stir in Tabasco sauce. |
