This Pre-1940's recipe included in my “Grandma’s Wartime Edition Cookbook” Ingredients:
1 cup cornmeal |
1 cup flour |
4 teaspoons baking powder |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
1 egg, well beaten |
2 1/2 cups milk |
2 tablespoons fat, melted |
Directions:
1. Mix and sift dry ingredients. 2. Combine beaten egg and milk. 3. Add to dry ingredients. 4. Stir in shortening. 5. Pour on a hot griddle. |
