The thought of these cookies brings back strong memories of my childhood. Making these cookies with my mother was a special treat, and eating them was an even bigger treat. Now I make them with my son to carry on the tradition. Ingredients:
3/4 cup shortening |
1 pinch salt |
1 cup sugar |
2 eggs |
2 tablespoons orange juice |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
2 1/2 cups flour |
1 1/2 cups corn flake crumbs |
maraschino cherry |
Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients except the flour. 2. Add the flour and mix until smooth. 3. Roll into balls. 4. Dip into cornflake crumbs. 5. Top with a halved maraschino cherry. 6. Bake at 350 until brown. |
