Ingredients:
2 cups cornmeal |
1 cup all-purpose flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 cup sugar |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
2 cups buttermilk |
1/3 cup water |
3 tablespoons bacon drippings |
Directions:
1. Combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt, mixing well. Dissolve soda in buttermilk; add to cornmeal mixture, stirring well. Add remaining ingredients; mix well. 2. Spoon batter into a well greased 8 1/2- x 4 1/2- x 3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until golden brown. |
