CORN FLAKE WAFFLES DATED 1931 This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Watson Estate in McKinney, Texas in 1991. Notation on card said this was served every Sunday (with variations) for over 30 years in Grandpa Jack’s house. Read more . I have made these recipes with all variations and there is not a bad one in the bunch. My favorite by far is the Bacon Waffles. Yummy. Ingredients:
1-1/2 cups flour |
1 cup finely crushed corn flakes |
3 tablespoons corn meal |
4 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
2 eggs |
1 cup milk |
1/3 cup melted butter |
Directions:
1. Sift and measure flour then add remaining dry ingredients and sift again. 2. Beat egg yolks then add them to milk. 3. Stir liquid ingredients into dry ones then add melted butter. 4. Beat egg whites until stiff then fold them into batter just before baking. 5. Bake in preheated waffle iron for 3 minutes. |
