Coming right up: an elegant concoction designed for warm-weather happy hour. It's pale pink in color, floral but not too sweet, and completely refreshing. Ingredients:
3/4 ounce (1 1/2 tablespoons) fresh pink grapefruit juice |
1/2 ounce (1 tablespoon) fresh lemon juice |
3/4 ounce (1 1/2 tablespoons) st-germain elderflower liqueur |
3 drops orange-flower water |
1 ounce (2 tablespoon) prairie vodka |
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons gruet brut sparkling wine, chilled |
Directions:
1. Stir together all ingredients except sparkling wine in a mixing glass. 2. Pour into Champagne flute, then top off with sparkling wine. 3. Cooks' note: To make 1 cup simple syrup, bring 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water to a simmer in a small saucepan, stirring until sugar is dissolved, then simmer 5 minutes. Cool syrup completely. (Leftover simple syrup can be used to sweeten iced tea and lemonade.) |
