A long time ago, a non-cooking magazine (possibly Games Magazine) held a contest for best chocolate chip cookies. They had hundreds of entries and ate themselves sick - and this recipe won. I've kept it all these years, finally made it, and WOW! Read more ! It's the best I've ever eaten, period. They taste complex, like cookies from some expensive restaurant. Ingredients:
1 cup soft real butter |
1 cup brown sugar |
1/4 cup boiling water |
1 tsp baking soda |
1 tsp vanilla |
1-1/4 cup flour |
1/2 tsp salt |
2 cups quick oats |
12oz semi-sweet chocolate chips |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350. 2. Cream butter and sugar. 3. Dissove baking soda in boiling water, then stir into first mixture. 4. Add vanilla; add dry ingredients and chips. 5. Drop small balls onto ungreased cookie sheets. 6. Bake 10-12 minutes. 7. Makes 5-6 dozen. 8. Doing two dozen at a time with 4 baking sheets (two in the oven, two out) cuts baking time in half. 9. Pig out! |
