A great potluck dish. The brine can be saved and frozen to be used again. This recipe can be made in a crock pot set on low. The longer the smokies are simmered the better they will be. Ingredients:
1 kg little smokies sausage |
1 cup apple cider vinegar |
1 cup brown sugar |
1 (350 ml) can beer |
Directions:
1. Slice the smokies into 1/4 inch slices. 2. Bring cider, brown sugar and beer to a low boil in a heavy sauce pan. 3. Add smokies and boil for at least 45 minutes. 4. Serve warm with toothpicks for picking up. 5. The brine can be frozen to be used again. |
