Enjoy this festive bread for brunch or as a side with dinner.. Surprise-the color comes from diced peppers. Ingredients:
1 c flour |
1 c cornmeal |
3 tbs sugar |
1-1/4 tsp chili powder |
1 tsp salt |
1 c milk |
1 stick unsalted butter,melted |
1 large egg |
1 c finely diced mixed peppers |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and butter an 8 or 9 square pan. 2. Whisk all dry ingredients together in a large bowl. In another bowl,whisk the milk,butter,and egg together. Pour the wet ingredients over the dry and gently stir until the batter is evenly moistened. Add peppers,stir to combine. 3. Bake about 25 mins.,or till toothpick inserted in bread comes out dry. Cool at least 15 mins. before serving. |
