This recipe is similar to the sauce they serve on hot dogs in New York on the street. According to legend, it first showed up at Coney Island, and then grew in popularity until all of the hot dog vendors in the city served it. Ingredients:
1/2 pound ground beef |
1/4 cup water |
1/4 cup chopped onion |
1 clove garlic, minced |
1 cup tomato sauce |
1/2 teaspoon chili powder |
1/2 teaspoon monosodium glutamate (msg) |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. In a medium skillet over medium high heat, saute the ground beef for 10 to 15 minutes, or until well browned. Break up with a fork until fine. Add the water, onion, garlic, tomato sauce, chili powder, monosodium glutamate and salt. Allow to simmer for 10 minutes, or until heated thoroughly. |
