Coney Island Sauce - Detroit Style |

This is exactly like the Coney Sauce my husband grew up eating in the Detroit area. Ingredients:
2 lbs hamburger |
6 ounces tomato paste |
6 ounces water |
2 tablespoons mustard |
2 tablespoons chili powder |
1 clove garlic, minced |
1 small onion, finely chopped |
1 teaspoon cumin |
Directions:
1. Do not precook hamburger. 2. Combine all ingredients in 2 qt. 3. saucepan. 4. Cover and cook on medium heat for 1 hour. 5. Stir occasionally, blot to remove excess fat and liquid. 6. Serve over cooked hot dogs. |
