This recipe is for a simple chili that is unique do to the addition of allspice. This recipe is an old family recipe which came from John Pfaffinger in the early seventies. Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef |
1 medium onion, chopped |
1 1/2 tsp. salt |
1, 6 oz. can of tomato paste |
1 quart of water |
1 tb chili powder |
1 tsp cumin |
1 medium dried red pepper |
8 whole allspice pods |
1 tb brown sugar |
1 can of red kidney beans (optional) |
Directions:
1. Brown the ground beef and onion in a dutch oven. 2. Drain fat. 3. Add remaining ingredients and simmer uncovered for 2 hours or until creamy. 4. Serve over hot dogs on buns. (Or spaghetti noodles) 5. Top with cheddar cheese. |
