Looks like brownies, feels like brownies but tastes like gingerbread! Serve with whipped cream. I made it with blackstrap molasses Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter |
1/2 cup molasses |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
1/2 cup buttermilk |
1 egg |
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour |
2 teaspoons baking soda |
1 teaspoon ginger |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon mace |
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg |
1/2 teaspoon allspice |
Directions:
1. Combine butter, molasses, brown sugar, and buttermilk in a medium saucepan over low heat. Heat until butter is melted and remove from heat. When cool, beat in egg. 2. In a bowl, combine flour, baking soda, spices and salt; fold into moist ingredients. 3. Turn into a greased and floured 9-inch cake pan and bake in the middle of a preheated 350 F oven for 30 minutes or until a tester comes out clean. 4. Cool before serving. |
