This is my British paternal grandmother's recipe (the English love their casseroles!), passed down to my mom. It's my favorite cold-day recipe! Serve with a green salad and crusty bread, or rolls, cresents, etc. Enjoy. Ingredients:
3/4-1 lb lean ground beef |
3 cups egg noodles |
1 (10 ounce) can cream of tomato soup |
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese |
1 cup canned corn (drained) |
1/3 cup chopped onion |
1 dash salt |
1 dash black pepper |
1 pinch garlic powder |
1 pinch dried parsley |
1 pinch dried basil |
1 pinch dried oregano |
Directions:
1. Brown the ground beef and onion. Drain. 2. Meanwhile, cook the egg noodles as directed. 3. Mix cooked beef/onion, noodles, soup, corn, and all spices/seasonings in a casserole dish. Add a little bit of milk or water if it seems too thick. 4. Top with cheese. 5. Bake, covered, at 350 for 20 minutes. 6. Uncover, bake for another 10-15 minutes or until cheese bubbles and browns slightly. |
