In colonial days they didn't have a whole lot of stuff to put into their baking. This one is like that. The first time I made it I didn't think that it would be very good, but found that it was sweet and great when toasted in the toaster and then spread it with lots of butter.
Ingredients:
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup flour, plus
3 tablespoons flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 cups buttermilk
Directions:
1. Mix the whole wheat flour, regular flour, brown sugar, and soda.
2. Slowly add the buttermilk till blended.
3. Put into a greased loaf pan.
4. 350 degree oven for 1 hour.
