A favorite dinner-on-the-grounds pound cake. Ingredients:
1/2 pound butter |
1/2 cup crisco shortening |
5 eggs |
3 cups sugar |
1 cup sweet milk |
1/2 tsp baking powder |
2 tsp vanilla |
2 tsp lemon extract |
1 tsp almond extract |
3 cups plain flour |
Directions:
1. Cream butter, crisco, and sugar. 2. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. 3. Add 1 cup of flour and 1/2 cup milk, beat slightly. 4. Then add 1/2 cup milk, last 2 cups of flour, baking powder and flavorings. 5. Pour into greased and floured tube pan. 6. Put in cold oven and bake 1 hour and 15 minutes at 325^F. |
