Coffee In A Trifle A Dessert

Nicked some crumbs from the coffee cake (recipe in earlier post/ Espresso cake), layered it with coffee flavoured whipped cream...attained nirvana in the first bite! This is a must for serious coffee lovers, and recommended for those who would like a change from chocolate. Read more . The flavour of coffee grows on you
Ingredients:
recipe for coffee sponge in my earlier post/espresso cake
Directions:
1. The recipe is just the same as for the coffee/Espresso sponge.
2. For approximately 8 servings it would be a good idea to half the recipe.
3. Once the sponge is cool, either cut into slices to fit into dessert cups/bowls or crumble the cake.
4. Then layer the base of the bowl with some cake, top with some whipped coffee cream, follow with another layer of cake, & finally top with more whipped coffee cream.
5. Now go ahead & dress it up with melted chocolate, chocolate flakes, roasted coffee beans...whatever catches your fancy.
6. This dessert can be put together a day in advance.
7. Remember to cover it while refrigerated it to enhance the flavours.
