This great little drop cookie is from Household Searchlight cookbook, and a recipe that I grew up making...it was the first recipe I was ever given free reign of the kitchen with...they are great with cold milk or a cup of hot coffee or cocoa. Ingredients:
1 cup sugar |
1/2 cup shortening |
1 egg |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 cup nuts |
1 teaspoon clove |
3/4 cup coffee |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 cup raisins |
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
2 cups flour |
Directions:
1. Cream shortening and sugar. 2. Add beaten egg. 3. Mix thoroughly. 4. Sift Flour, measure and sift with baking soda, salt, baking powder and spices. 5. Add Alternately with coffee to shortening/sugar mixture. 6. Add raisins, nuts and flavoring. 7. Mix thoroughly. 8. Add additional flour if necessary to make a drop cookie dough. 9. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto well oiled baking sheet. 10. Make in moderate oven (400 degrees F.) about 15 minutes - 36 servings. |
