great on a cold winter day with a warm cup of coffee. Ingredients:
2 cups white flour |
2 cups brown sugar |
1/2 cup butter |
1 egg, beaten |
1 cup milk |
2 teaspoon vinegar |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1/4 cup pecans, chopped (optional |
Directions:
1. Mix flour, brown sugar, and butter with a pastry blender until crumbly. Remove 1 cup mixture and set aside for topping 2. In a separate bowl, mix milk and vinegar (this soursss the milk), and baking soda; allow mixture to bubble. 3. Add beaten egg and vanilla to the milk. 4. Add to flour mixture and stir to blend. 5. Pour into an 8 or 9-inch greased baking pan and sprinkle with topping. 6. Top with chopped pecans and sprinkle lightly with cinnamon. 7. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. 8. Serves 6 to 8 people. |
