Another favorite from the Betty Crocker 1969 cookbook. This was actually listed as a variation to the Pecan Fingers, but I prefer the variation over the original! Delicious cookies with a crisp crust, chewy top, and a citrusy glaze. Read more . Yum!
Ingredients:
cookies
3/4 c. shortening (half butter or margarine, softened)
3/4 c. confectioner's sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
2 eggs
1 c. brown sugar, packed
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. walnuts
1/2 c. coconut
orange-lemon icing
1 1/2 c. confectioner's sugar
2 tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
3 tbsp. orange juice
1 tsp. lemon juice
Directions:
1. Cookies:
2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
3. Cream shortening and confectioner's sugar. Blend in 1 1/2 c. flour. Press evenly in bottom of ungreased baking pan, 13 x 9 x 2 inches. Bake 12 - 15 min.
4. Mix remaining ingredients (except glaze ingredients), spread over hot baked layer and bake 20 min. longer. While warm, spread with Orange-Lemon Icing. Cool; cut into bars, about 3 x 1 inch.

6. Mix icing ingredients until smooth and of spreading consistency.
