Not sure why it says return to double boiler if it never mentioned the double boiler previously. I will hopefully be able to edit this to make it more accurate after I try all these recipes. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups scalded milk |
1/3 cup sugar |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
3 tablespoons cornstarch |
3 egg yolks |
1 tablespoon butter |
1/2 cup shredded coconut |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla |
Directions:
1. Add sugar, cornstarch, and salt to beaten egg yolks. 2. Pour the scalded milk into this; return to double boiler, stir and cook until thickened. 3. Add butter, coconut, and vanilla. 4. Pour into a pie tin lined with pastry. Bake. 5. Cover with meringue. |
