My mother received this recipe from her friend years ago and it quickly became a family favorite throughout my childhood. It's SO yummy and great to take to reunions, church functions, etc. Enjoy!! Ingredients:
1 cup oleo (margarine) |
4 tablespoons cocoa |
1 cup water |
2 cups sugar |
2 cups flour |
2 eggs (beaten) |
1/2 cup buttermilk (or sour milk) |
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1/2 cup oleo (margarine) |
4 tablespoons cocoa |
6 tablespoons milk |
2 cups powdered sugar |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
Directions:
1. In a sauce pan, put 2 oleo, cocoa and water. 2. Bring to a boil. 3. Pour over sugar and flour. 4. Mix well. 5. Add eggs, buttermilk, cinnamon, baking soda, vanilla. 6. Mix well. 7. Pour into greased cookie sheet (with sides about 12x18). 8. Bake 350 for 25 minute. 9. FROSTING. 10. In sauce pan, add oleo, cocoa and milk. 11. Bring to boil. 12. Add powdered sugar and sugar. 13. Beat well. 14. Spread on HOT cake. |
