This is from an old Southern Living, January 2005 issue. We enjoy it and I hope you do also. Ingredients:
1 cup boiling water |
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine |
1/2 cup molasses |
1/2 cup sugar |
2 large eggs, lightly beaten |
2 cups self-rising flour |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, whisk together the boiling water, butter, molasses and sugar. 2. Let cool and then whisk in beaten eggs. 3. Sift together the self-rising flour, baking soda, unsweetened cocoa and cinnamon. 4. Whisk flour mixture into the molasses mixture and whisk until smooth. 5. Pour batter into a greased and floured 8-inch square pan. 6. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. |
