COCOA APPLE CAKE This is a recipe I obtained from an Estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Elmhurst Estate in Heath, Texas in 1981. Ingredients:
3 eggs |
2 cups granulated sugar |
2 sticks butter |
1/2 cup water |
2-1/2 cups all purpose flour |
2 tablespoons cocoa |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1 teaspoon allspice |
1 cup finely chopped walnuts |
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate bits |
2 cups grated apples |
1 tablespoon vanilla |
Directions:
1. Combine eggs, butter, sugar and water then cream until fluffy. 2. Sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda, cinnamon and allspice. 3. Add to creamed mixture and mix well. 4. Fold in nuts, chocolate bits, apples and vanilla then mix until distributed evenly. 5. Spoon into greased and floured tube pan and bake at 325 for 70 minutes. |
