When we were kids, we always called these yip yips. I guess that is a Midwestern thing. I've been looking for a sloppy joe recipe that tasted like my mom's for years (she always just threw it together and I could never get the taste) and finally found it. Since we're Pepsi lovers, I substituted it for the Coca Cola. Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef |
1 medium onion, chopped |
1 1/2 tablespoons flour |
1 cup diet coke |
2/3 cup catsup |
2 tablespoons vinegar |
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce |
2 teaspoons dry mustard |
Directions:
1. Brown beef and onion in a large skillet. 2. Drain well. 3. Stir in remaining ingredients as listed. 4. Mix well. 5. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes. |
